Entry Eight: Our Super Big World

  The world is a scary place, it can be unforgiven, it can be unforgettable, but it is the home that we are given to work with. We may see our universe as a bigger place than the world that we live in, but is it really? We have seen all the movies that have the biggest monsters larger than life, monsters that are willing to consume everything in their path, but we miss the most important parts focusing on what doesn't exist. One of my favorite movies that has such great examples would be Super 8. There are no monsters under our beds, not as kind as the monster in this film can be. Not as kind as Godzilla, not as kind as King Kong, or the flawless creatures with the motivation to protect that leave us speechless. There is no Predator that wants to verse a xenomorph any time soon. Freddy and Jason only will battle in the hells that we create. A man once said that we create our own demons.

When you watch this film, you see a group of kids make a movie about our brainless creation; zombies that have known to become popular over the past decade. Arguing that bonds the key to friendship, keeps the friends farther away from breaking apart.You witness a father lose control over the simplest things under pressure alone, as he only has his son. You see another lazy father filled with pain without the chance of healing because it is lost, give up everything for the fact that he can't take the pain of regret any longer. You see the blame be tossed back and forth between two different fathers.  You see greed consume the best in people. You see fear enhance the worst in people. A teacher that made a choice when we saw that he was wrong as a scientist to hurd towards the wrong end of a train. A general that thought he knew better, but saw what he was dishing out in the last moments of his last breath; the spill of blood. Then you have the "Alien" that is on a different world, just exploring, accomplishing what it needs in order to survive. So, ask yourself, who is the true monster?
