Entry Two: 47 Meters Down
How many of you watch movies? That's right, you can put you hand down, all of us have seen a movie or two. Most of us even could depict a favorite. Me, I have come to love all movies, in a way.
I have gone past that movie night faze, and gone into the realm of watching movies as if I formed a secret bucket list. I have only had a handful of movies that I would never recommend to certain individuals based on the content of the film. Some are mostly based on the rated R rating, or simply because they are just terrible. I am here to only discuss one movie, though. 47 Meters Down.
Why this movie out of the billions that have been made over the coarse of a lifetime? How many movies have you seen that made you mad before? So angry that the emotions that you felt at the conclusion of the movie come back by the near mention of it?
If you have seen this movie, I'm sorry, yet this touches on another matter. When you watch a movie you want to view something that has never been done before, to take your breathe away, or just entertain/educate your interests. Why else watch a film? Diving into the movie 47 Meters Down, you may be concerned in the get-go, but the purpose of the film is to witness the two main female characters fall to their doom 47 Meters Down in a rusty-ass cage.
Yes, they reach the bottom of the ocean, surrounded by sharks, and have to depend on one another to reach the top before they run out of oxygen. You have the perfect set up for a really good Jaws type movie of the century. Spoilers are ahead, yet I have a question for you prior, how do you want to feel when exiting a movie? Do you want to feel good when you walk out of that movie you just paid for, or horrid at what one small move caused to ruin such a movie?
This film holds us at the edge of our seats, makes us what to look away at the right moments, and delivers a jaw dropping adventure. Until you realize that Indies Ego went to his head, and not his luck. Conflict, which drives the movie, is consistent as the aspect of evolving the visual effects as the movie flows. These two girls were on a trip to catch up, and comfort the main sister who wanted nothing to do with the trip. All the main character had left was her sister, and a good slice of the film makes you think that she gets ate by a shark at the last minute. The movie takes her away.
Yes. This was meant to happen, as it was not clear what happened to her as you watch the main sister go through worse effects. How it started was they have the cage going up, they were protected from the sharks, then...SNAP! The cage goes back down! The main character is stuck, the sister goes out to find another way to oxygen, and BAM! The action does not stop as the main character has to pull herself from between the ocean floor, the cage, and reaching the oxygen tank on time. This shark movie could not get any better as the sisters are untied and face a battle of a lifetime! The sister is bleeding out, all they have it flairs, and the will to go on. They both make it gloriously burning the sharks as they make it to the surface, but a shark pulls the main character back it for the finale of her also getting bit in the legs. Then, SQUASH, she pokes the eye out to be released to freedom.
The movie concludes with the girls making it to the surface, to the boat, and laying down just waiting seconds to get the attention they deserve. The sisters are united again as the main girl states, "We made it!" NOPE! The movie back tracks to when the cage fell the second time it was all an illusion to make the best ending ever...and take it away.
I encourage you to watch the film, and see for yourself. Do you think that the movie should have left the ending that it deserves, or would the popularity of the film just remain the same either way? I might have not have been talking about this film if it wasn't for the way it ended. The way it made me feel when it ended was so strong that I have learned to accept it. That is my Intel on this movie, as a movie watcher, but don't let my opinion stand in your way. Enjoy movies as they are meant to be.

Brandon--Your blog is coming along nicely! You have some good topics and ideas, and your voice is comfortable, confident, and engaging. Keep working on developing your content to create greater significance for your audience (think about "why" you are telling them what you are and what it means to them). The rhetorical approach is working...keep refining it. Nice job!
